Tales Of The Unusual is, like I said, an anthology series which all exist in the same universe.
It definitely explores the human nature and how people act in different situations. I suppose it’s quite easy to say that most people in the stories suck.
There’s a lot of stories to this anthology, with the first season having about 270+ chapters. Not all of them are about the same story, but sometimes there’s hints to past stories.
I quite like these hints and nods to previous chapters, which makes it feel like there’s a separate universe.
Now, I quite like the stories but I will say the art isn’t anything special.
In fact, I’d go so far to say the art is sub-par to most other comics out there. The colours are bleak and quite dull, which hardly makes you feel excited for the stories.
However, the plot of the stories does make up for a lot of its shortcomings. Plus, I’d go so far to say the art is made with the purpose of looking dull and gray-ish.
One of the more popular stories is the mini-story “Beauty Water”, which does make an appearance in later chapters, too.
The story of Beauty Water starts on chapter 69 on webtoons, in case you’re curious about that.
Final thoughts: I think this is a must read for anyone interested in the depravity that is human nature.
This is part of Otomenai’s horror month, where we share some interesting horror comics during the month of October.
