Scream Queen [horror Month]

Scream Queen is somewhat of a gem when it comes to comedic horror manhua. It’s charming, stupid and beautifully drawn.

Scream Queen Summary

It is a comedic horror comic that even the faint of heart can stomach! Knowing that she would die at the hands of a female ghost the next day, Zhu Yang was determined to drink to her heart’s content before then.

When she woke up the next day, her mind was in shambles because of her drunkenness and her house was a mess. There was a female ghost hanging out of her TV with only half of her body—dead!

Her disreputable friends accused her of inhumanely torturing the female ghost to death.

Zhu Yang said, “No! I did not! Stop spouting nonsense! I am as delicate as a flower and I only know how to scream when met with scary things.”

To this, the female ghost who had thought that her prey was an easy one but was killed instead, had something to say.

Scream Queen is definitely not for everyone, but I choose to see it as a series where it’s mostly parody on horror.

Our female lead is utterly despicable, really. However, it’s hilarious how she’s seemingly the worst one out there, despite a literal ghost wanting to kill her.

I get that some may not like the story, which is totally fine. However, it’s definitely something to give a go just for the heck of it.

Our female lead is basically tossed into a “Ring” scenario, where the ghost is saying it’ll kill her in 7 days. Even the curse transfer fails because the ghost is so angry at our female lead. It’s out for her blood and doesn’t want anyone but her!

I won’t lie and say this is my cup of tea, but I do recognize how some people will enjoy this one.

Not only is the art quite good, the story itself is so wacky it’s enough to keep some entertained. There’s even some 4th wall breaking going on in the story.

Final thoughts: Not for everyone, but some will definitely enjoy reading this wack-o series about Zhu Yang.

This is part of Otomenai’s horror month, where we share some interesting horror comics during the month of October.
