Summary of “Return Of The Female Knight”:
Elena, who spent her entire life as a cold-blooded female knight to avenge her family, ended up dying without claiming her revenge.
When she opened her eyes she found that she went back into the past.
By day she was a lady in a dress, and at night she carried a sword to change history and prevent her family’s destruction.
The story is interesting, although it features a reversal of time which is being done a lot. Yet, it manages to keep it fresh by adding different elements we’ve not seen a lot before. There’s still plenty of tropes and clichés for those who like that.
For instance, our protagonist is the one who saves the hide of our male lead. Although she proposes to him, at least we get a humor part where he’s stating he’s not into men.
I find the story heart-warming, as the young woman is happy to see her father and brother again. Despite their stoic nature and no-nonsense you can tell she loves them. You don’t know what you’re missing until it’s not there, after all.
The art is pretty good, too. I get the action scenes might be a bit stilted, but it’s hard to make them look good. Especially if you don’t normally draw stuff like that.
Overall I’m not against this from what I read. Some have commented it’s quite rushed and the novel takes the time to wallow in our protagonist’s miserable fate.
I get that part, but at the same time you really want to get to the point – the revenge. Then again, it would be impactful if we saw our character be more upset. But I don’t know, I felt like it was decent. It may be a bit like movie vs book argument. No one is really right, but everyone thinks they are.
Recommendation: Yes, keep an eye on this one.
