Not Even Bones Summary
Nita doesn’t hunt supernatural beings and sell their body parts on the black market – her mother does that. Nita only dissects the magical bodies for her mother.
However, Nita’s about to get a real taste of the family business and there is no turning back. Now, Nita must decide whether she is willing to become a monster…

What I mean with the summary is that “Not Even Bones” let’s us explore both being the victim and the perpetrator. Nita gets captured and ends up in a prison sell where she’s going to be sold off, piece by piece, to anyone interested in her special abilities and body.
Yet, when the tables turn, Nita shows a viciousness that we originally may not have been expecting. She’s not weak, nor let’s herself be caught up by her own morals. In fact, she ends up taking lessons from someone we deem to be more inhumane and cruel than Nita. It just shows that not everything is as we think it is.

When are crossing the line and losing yourself? When are breaking your own rules? These questions are something we can ask ourselves reading the webtoon. It forces us to realize that Nita isn’t really innocent, is she?
She’s been dissecting so many people, excuse me, supernatural beings, for her mother. She could have said no, been arguing against her mother and not done those things.
Yet, in a twisted way she comes to the realization she actually is liking it. It was something interesting in dissecting the flesh, sorting out muscles from fat, from bones.
She didn’t stop because she was being forced to do it; she didn’t stop because she likes it. Maybe she really didn’t want to kill people, true, but if need be, she will.
Despite Nita being an awful “supernatural being” morally, she’s still being likable. She upholds some type of moral standpoint and tries to do right for herself. Sometimes you have to break the rules to keep staying alive. Maybe a bit like “live long enough and you’ll become the villain”.
I absolutely love the friendship which is developing between Nita and Kovit. It started out with mistrusts, but it ends with something akin to friendship. I hope these two will be meeting again in the future.
Recommendation: Yes, do start reading this! It’s a dark webtoon so be advised, but it’s soo good.
